Here’s a story I did for The Hour regarding Pete Seeger’s environmental education sloop Clearwater. Interesting boat with an interesting story. Thanks to Norwalk’s Susan Guerrero for the news tip.

NORWALK – Clearwater, a historic environmental education sailboat, is spending a few days in Norwalk as it gets patched up for next season.

The 106-foot-long sloop was built in the 1960s by folk singer Pete Seeger as he despaired over the condition of the Hudson River. According to the website http://www.clearwater.org, Seeger wanted to “build a boat to save the river.” It is a replica of the sloops of the 18th and 19th centuries.
